A native of Hawaii, Dave Yonamine, PAR ’21, moved to California and graduated with an MS from Stanford University. After working at Unisys, Yonamine bootstrapped his own company. Starting in his living room with four other former Unisys employees, the company became the leading developer of networking software for Unisys mainframes. In 2008, MobilityWare launched a number of apps on the day Apple’s App Store opened. Without any outside investment, MobilityWare has grown to be one of the largest independent mobile gaming developers with 200 employees in its Irvine, CA headquarters.
Yonamine serves as company chairman and CEO and also directs the acquisitions of other mobile developers. He and his wife, Linda, enjoy time with their adult children Ashley and Kevin, FCRH ’21, traveling, and splitting their time between family homes in Southern California and Hawaii.
Yonamine recently served as a valued judge at the Fordham Foundry Pitch event on April 8, 2018. He is no stranger to the success of the format, as he orchestrates Game Jams, MobilityWare’s own game app pitch event.
