Metro Consulting helps Bronx-based small business owners grow, streamline, and enhance their company. They make this possible by enlisting smart and motivated Fordham students from a variety of disciplines to volunteer as consultants. Their goal is to make a positive impact on our local community while simultaneously giving students hands-on experience in the real world.
Metro consultants students are placed in a team and assigned a client, a Bronx-based small business, to work with for the school year; these teams are determined based on each student’s interests and experience as well as the client’s needs. Through bi-weekly meetings between the team and client, deliverables are created by combining the owner’s vision and consultants’ recommendations.
Metro Consulting’s partnership with businesses provides a learning experience for both sides. Consultants can give advice based on their knowledge and experiences, and clients help students understand the inner-workings of business ownership.
Previously, consultants have proven to be adept in improving social media development and client communications, but other potential deliverables include financial projections, industry and competitor analysis, website design and search engine optimization, developing a marketing plan, company branding, and community outreach. In everything Metro Consulting do, they set the groundwork so clients can operate efficiently on their own.
