Can You Decarbonize NYC in 2.5 hours? Energetic Will Teach You How

7pm - 10 pm, Bloomberg Center, 1st Floor, Room 161X

Are you interested in learning more about the technologies and trade-offs needed to transform New York City's energy system to meet standards set in the Paris Climate Agreement? Energetic is a cooperative board game where 4-6 players deal with challenges such as budgets, grid stability, elections, and public opinion while racing to construct 16 GW of green electricity generation. (As seen in the New York Times.)

Energetic has been played at Carnegie Mellon, Harvard, Vassar and Yale, as well as at Bronx Science, Hunter College High School, and Brooklyn Tech. But it has never been played in an all-electric building with geothermal wells and an acre-sized solar array. What better place to try to break the record, currently held by Yale, for most simultaneous games by playing nine sets at once!

Did we say free pizza? Yes, free pizza will be served.

The free event is sponsored by the Jacobs Urban Tech Hub as part of the 2023 Urban Tech Summit. This free event is open to Urban Tech Summit attendees, Cornell Tech students, staff, and faculty, and invited guests.
